One of my favorite blogs to read for astronomy and skeptic news is Bad Astronomy. Today they did a write up about Andrew Wakefield being accused of fraud. The original article can be found at http://www.bmj.com/. This man is known as one of the big supporters of the antivaccination movement. The basics of this argument is that all of those vaccinations you receive as a kid could possibly give you long term medical conditions. The main one being Autism. While there is no solid proof that this is true people still try and make this connection.
The bulk of the story reads as follows. Wakefield receives funding from lawyers looking to support their case stating that vaccinations are bad. Wakefield is accused of knowingly using subjects that already had medical issues before his experiments were started.
This is a huge blow to the anti-vaccination camp. One of their biggest crusaders has lost his credibility. For all the gritty details click here.
